I help frustrated people to escape binge eating, emotional eating, and overwhelming thoughts about food, by combining the insight and emotional depth of therapy with proactive solution-focused coaching.
It is exhausting constantly thinking about eating and feeling that you don’t have control over food.

It is frustrating knowing what you should do, but not being able to do it.

It is isolating feeling alone and judged, and just wanting to feel ‘normal’.

I help people who want to:

Stop binge eating for good
  • Discover the hidden thoughts and feelings triggering you to binge and overeat.
  • Tackle the root causes of your binge eating. Diets don’t do that. That’s why they don’t work for long.
  • Find out what ‘needs’ bingeing currently fulfils for you and develop healthy ways to meet those needs without food.

Get freedom from constant thoughts about food and your weight
  • Calm the conflicting ‘diet’ voices in your mind.
  • Shed unhelpful beliefs around food rules and restrictive diets.
  • Rewrite your attitudes to food, weight, and your body.
Escape the cycle of yo-yo dieting and weight gain
  • Take charge of your eating and create space to live your life as you want to.
  • Learn to live your life without bingeing or restriction.
  • Develop your own way of living healthily that works for you.

Why I can help
I’ve been there and I get it
  • I regularly binged throughout my teens and twenties.
  • I escaped binge eating, and now support others to find freedom from food.

This approach is different
  • I combine counselling, to understand and overcome emotional barriers, with the strategies and energy of coaching, to help you make lasting change.
  • Counselling helps you understand why you binge and what is preventing you stopping, but by itself may not provide the strategies to make change.
  • Coaching provides proactive tools and techniques for change, but by itself may not have the depth to make change last.
  • Combining counselling and coaching is powerful to tackle binge eating for good.
Sessions are unique to you
  • We are often told that every new diet is the answer. It is not. You are unique: why would someone else’s solution work for you?
  • Diets do not address your unique set of underlying issues.
  • Learn how to enjoy being healthy in a way that is sustainable and realistic for you.

I have the experience, qualifications and knowledge
  • I am a Registered Counsellor (MBACP, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), certified Health Coach, and a doctor by research (PhD).
  • I specialise in binge eating, emotional eating and helping people change their health behaviours, and have:
  • 17 years’ experience, including as Senior Scientist at the University of Cambridge Centre for Diet and Activity Research.
  • Helped thousands of people improve their health behaviours.
  • Appeared on BBC Breakfast and consulted for TV programmes including Easy Ways to Live Well with Steph McGovern and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall on BBC1.
